PULYA CALCULATOR

Preferans · "Leningrad" convention

Algorithm for calculating the pulya in Preferans under the "Leningrad" convention, based on Yuri Rozaliev's book "Preferans. Bridge":
1. The pulya adjusts the gora. The arithmetic mean of all players' pulya values is calculated. If a player's pulya is above the average, their gora is decreased by the difference between their pulya and the average. If a player's pulya is below the average, their gora is increased by twice the difference between the average and their pulya.
2. The gora is converted into whists. The smallest of all players' adjusted gora values is found. This minimum value is subtracted from each player's gora, so the new smallest value becomes zero. Each resulting gora value is then multiplied by 10 and divided by the number of players, with the result rounded to a whole number. This is that player's debt from the gora: every other player records this number as whists against them.
3. Total. Whists from play are summed with whists received from the gora. Whists players hold against each other cancel out mutually: each player's final result equals the difference between all whists recorded against them by others and all whists they recorded against others.
